LG election: NSCDC deploys 2,800 officers in Oyo

The Oyo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) said it has deployed no fewer than two thousand, eight hundred officers to monitor the forthcoming local government election in the state.

DAILY POST recalls that the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) had fixed Saturday, 22nd May 2021 as the date for the conduct of local government election in the state.

The election is to take place in all the 34 local government areas in the state.

NSCDC however, said that it has deployed officers to monitor the election.

The command noted that the officers would be placed at strategic locations in order to ensure free and peaceful election.

The State Commandant of NSCDC, Iskilu Akinsanya, while speaking on the preparation for the election, called on the general public in the State to support the government by participating without fear as the Corps is fully ready to protect lives and properties of the citizens of the State.

Akinsanya who spoke during a Security briefing on Tuesday, stressed further that all officers and men of the Corps will be on duty on that election day as under cover officers, Agro Ranger and Counter-Terrorism Unit of the Corps will be deployed to all flash spots in the State.

Akinsanya stated further that the Command and other Security agencies are ready to deal decisively with anyone attempting to breach the peace in the State during and after the local government election.

He enjoined the voters to observe COVID 19 protocol during the election and conduct themselves in an orderly and peaceful manner during and after the election.
