Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndidi will undergo an operation this weekend.
The Super Eagles star pulled out of his country’s national team friendly games against Ivory Coast and Tunisia next month after picking up a groin injury in the Foxes’ 4-2 win over Burnley last weekend.
After the game, his injury was assessed by the club’s medical team and they came into conclusion that he requires surgery.

Rodgers, while answering questions from the media ahead of his side’s crunch encounter against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

“That (surgery) will take probably place tomorrow morning. “It’s just unfortunate, it’s come right off the bone, so he’s going to be up to 12 weeks we think. He’s a huge player for us.
“It’s something that showed his mentality against Burnley [because] he felt it. Towards the end of last season, he felt some pain there and he felt it late on in the Burnley game.
“I’m sure he’ll make a really good recovery and we’ll welcome him back when he comes back, but there’s no doubt he’s a miss.”
The former Liverpool handler admitted that he will miss the services of the Nigerian but insists that he has quality stars to stand in for him till his return.
“We have players capable of stepping in. Papy [Mendy] signed a new contract in the summer and has started the season very well.
“Hamza [Choudhury] was excellent against Arsenal, he really covered the ground and was defensively very good, so we have enough cover in that position.”
Legit.ng earlier reported that Nigerian star Victor Osimhen made his debut for Napoli after making a huge money switch from Lille to the Serie A side.
Although he failed to find the back of the net, his introduction into the game in the 61st minute change the direction of the game for The Parthenopeans.
It took Gennaro Gattuso’s men just two minutes after the 21-year-old came on for Diego Demme before finding the back of the net.
