It was gathered that George Floyd’s family has accepted the offer and then a picture of a cheque sent from Mayweather to Robert Swearington Fort Bend Memorial funeral home for $88,500, to cover the costs was posted by TMZ.

The former world heavyweight champion has offered to pay for funeral expenses of late George Floyd who recently died in America following assault from the police who arrested him.

Floyd Mayweather’s company confirmed this on social media in which the family of the deceased have also accepted the gesture from the retired boxer who has made so much money in boxing.

Floyd died just over a week ago in controversial circumstances after being arrested by police officer Derek Chauvin, who has since been charged with third-degree murder.

The 46-year-old died in police custody in Minneapolis after his arrest for allegedly attempting to use a counterfeit $20 note.

A video emerged online of Chauvin kneeling on Floyd’s neck for more than eight minutes during the arrest.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that some group of Nigerians took the streets of Lagos to protest the killing of George Floyd, an African-American by a ‘white’ cop, Derek Chauvin, in Minneapolis, United States of America.

Reacting to the killing of Floyd by Chauvin and the growing protests in the streets of various states of America, the Black Lives Matter Movement in Nigeria (BLMMN) defied the heavy downpour in Lagos in condemnation of racism against coloured people in the US.

Speaking on behalf of the group, convener, Josephine Okpara said an end must be put to “white supremacy and build local power to intervene in violence inflicted on black communities by the state and vigilantes”.

Okpara expressed disgust at the manner blacks are being dehumanised, describing it as “uncharitable and a gross disservice to our intellectual sense of existence in the world”.

She said the killing of Floyd is another grim example of how black lives have been disregarded by the state and their affiliates.
