Brescia assistant manager Salvatore Lanna felt they played well even down to 10 men against Lazio, “which makes the result even more disappointing.”
The Rondinelle were leading through Mario Balotelli and holding on well even after going down to 10 men, but Ciro Immobile completed his brace for a 2-1 Lazio victory in stoppages.
“Things just aren’t going our way at the moment, because once again we played very well and conceded a costly goal in injury time,” said Lanna in his press conference.
Coach Eugenio Corini was suspended following his furious protests in the last game of 2019, where Brescia were held to a last-gasp 1-1 draw by Parma.
“The performance was satisfactory and the lads gave their all, which is what makes the result even more disappointing. We’ve got to build on it.
“Sandro Tonali played his heart out, but he was not in good shape and asked to come off.”
This was Lazio’s ninth consecutive Serie A victory, so does Lanna as an opponent think they can challenge for the Scudetto?
“I know Simone Inzaghi well and this is a great team with many weapons in their armoury. We held out against them very well, but unfortunately lost some sharpness at the end.”
