Frank Lampard has insisted Timo Werner and Kai Havertz need more time to adapt after the duo’s low-key performances against Liverpool.

The two formed part of Chelsea’s squad that lost 2-0 to the reigning champions on Sunday, September 20, at Stamford Bridge.

Sadio Mane scored a stunning brace in the second half of the the clash to guide the Reds to victory.

Unlike Werner, Havertz was sacrificed at the stroke of halftime, with Lampard replacing him with Fikayo Tomori in a tactical change occasioned by Andreas Christensen’s red card.

However, just like his debut against Brighton, Havertz was silent through the 45 minutes and made little or no impact.

Werner, on the other hand, has made quite a difference in both fixtures, winning penalties in both.

Lampard has now pleaded for patience from fans regarding the two players, predicting they will hit top form once they find their rhythm.

“He’s very versatile. He [Werner] can play centrally or left side, I think he was fantastic in moments today, you saw the difference he’s going to make,” Lampard told Chelsea TV.

“He needs time, Kai Havertz. He trained just a few days before Brighton, again he’s had to recover and get ready for this game. So I’ve got no doubt in time that we can be versatile with not just those two but the front players we have,” he added.

The west London will take on West Bromwich in their next Premier League fixture.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Paris-Saint-Germain who are French champions are reportedly interested in the signing of Chelsea star Tiemoue Bakayoko and they have made contact with the Blues’ chiefs.

Since the French midfielder moved to Stamford Bridge three years ago, the 26-year-old has failed to impress Chelsea chiefs who now want to flog him out.

According to the report on UK Sun, Italian side AC Milan are interested in signing Bakayoko on a permanent basis, but they have not been able to convince the Blues.
