In what will be seen as absolute disrespect to religion, Omotayo Olaiya has allegedly threatened to kill Mayo Olatunji.

Olaiya was alleged to have vowed to carry out the act while the woman is worshipping in a mosque in the Ebute-Meta area of Lagos state. According to the police, Olaiya has been arrested and he was found in possession of a gun.

The state police public relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, May 5, Punch reports.

He said:

“Police operatives attached to the Denton Division of the Lagos State Police Command, on May 3, 2021, around 11am, received a complaint from Mrs Shakirat Mayo Olatunji that one Omotayo Olaiya threatened to kill her with a gun inside the Ansarudeen Mosque, located at No. 72-74 Bola Street, Ebute-Meta, Lagos.

“On the strength of the complaint, a surveillance team was detailed to track down the suspect and he was eventually arrested. A brownie pistol and one Motorola walkie-talkie were recovered from him.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that two factions of hoodlums clashed in the Mile 12 area of Lagos on Thursday, May 6 causing panic in the area.

According to report, members of the two groups were seen with assorted dangerous weapons as residents and passers-by scampered into different locations during the clash. The spokesman of the state police command, Muyiwa Adejobi, has confirmed the incident.

An aide to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Jubril Gawat, however, tweeted that the situation has been brought under control by the Lagos state police command.

In another report, the Lagos state government on Monday, April 26 debunked a media report claiming there was an ethnic clash between Yoruba and Hausa youths in the early hours of that day.

The Lagos state government stated that the clash between Okada riders and NURTW members at the Iyana-Iba area did not have any ethnic colouration.

Gboyega Akosile, the chief press secretary to Governor Sanwo-Olu, said operatives of the Lagos state police command brought the situation under control within a few hours.
