Executive Chairman, Kano state Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC), Muhuyi Rimin-Gado, yesterday vowed to investigate and prosecute corrupt individuals in the state regardless of political or social status.

Rimin-Gado, who made the declaration while receiving Federal Commissioner, Public Complaints Commission (PCC), Ahmad Ado, declared the independence of the statutory commission and its activities.

He cited several cases of corruption involving serving commissioners and council executives currently under investigation and prosecution.Warning that the “war against corruption knows no bound in Kano,” he stressed the commission’s commitment to strengthening human capacity and resources in the fight against misappropriation of public wealth, and disclosed plans to establish an anti-corruption institute in the state.

“The request is in tandem with the international practice. In Nigeria, the Economic and Financial crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) have already established similar institutions to train their staff through seminars, workshops and special courses in the field of fighting corruption, which the commission usually patronises to build the capacity of its staff.”
