JUSUN: Judiciary workers end two-month strike

The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), suspended its two-month-old strike on Wednesday.

The commenced an industrial action on April 6, days after Resident Doctors downed tools.

JUSUN is demanding the financial independence of the judiciary at the federal and state levels.

In May 2020, President Muhammadu Buhari signed an Executive Order that granted financial autonomy to the judiciary.

The law allows the Accountant-General of the Federation to deduct from source, any amount due to state legislatures and judiciaries from the monthly allocation.

But many state governments for shunned the order, forcing JUSUN to take the decision to shut courts nationwide.
