Reports from the Spanish capital have it that Real Madrid chiefs are upset with the club’s position in the Champions League and are planning to sack manager Zinedine Zidane.

Los Blancos were stunned on Tuesday night, December 1, in the UEFA Champions League by Shakhtar Donetsk and now their qualification for the knockout stages hang in the balance.

Following the loss, Real Madrid have only managed four wins in their last eleven games across all competitions and the leadership of the club are beginning to doubt if Zidane should remain as their coach.

They have questioned his tactics and team selection in recent times especially after their weekend loss to Deportivo Alaves in the La Liga.

Shakhtar beating them was a real blow and now the club officials are considering to lay-off the manager who is the second-most successful in their history.

They still have a chance of qualifying for the knockout phase of the Champions League thanks to Inter Milan’s 3-2 victory over Borussia Monchengladbach in the other group game on the night.

Consequently, the Spanish champions have their fate in their own hands and must beat Gladbach in the last group game to reach the next round.

However, Zidane is facing a tough run of fixtures, with Sevilla, Gladbach and Atletico Madrid up next.

Meanwhile, Curtis Jones’ lone strike two minutes before the hour mark was all Liverpool needed to secure their passage to the Champions League knockout stage.

The victory saw the Premier League outfit maintain their top position on the Group G table with 12 points after their fifth match.

And Legit.ng earlier reported that Manchester United could be without up to six key players when they take on Paris Saint-Germain for their crunch Champions League tie slated for Wednesday night, December 2.
