Victor Osimhen has opened his goals account with Napoli after he found the back of the net on Saturday, October 17 in a block buster Serie A match against Atalanta.

Hirving Lozano had netted a brace scoring in the 23rd and 27th minute before Matteo Politano added the 3rd in the 30th minute.

It was Osimhen’s turn just two minutes before half-time when the Nigerian striker pulled the trigger from outside the box in the 43rd minute to extend his side’s lead to 4-0.

The 21-year-old brought down a David Ospina long ball with his chest and then created space for himself before he fired a low-drive into the corner, leaving Marco Sportiello hapless in goal.

It is the youngster’s first official goal since his arrival at the Genaro Gatusso tutored side. Sam Lammers got the consolation goal for the visitors as it ended 4-1.

Napoli completed the transfer agreement for the former Nigeria U17 player for fee plus an array of potential bonuses that takes the deal up to €50million (about N23billion).

The two clubs, Lille and Napoli, signed the final relevant documents on Friday, July 24 with Osimhen having already passed a medical with the Serie A club in Rome a week earlier.

The forward, who had spent just 12 months with Les Dogues, joins on a 5-year contract, with the option to extend that deal by a further sixth year.

It would be recalled that the former youth international made an impressive mark in France in his debut season, scoring 18 goals and six assists across competitions.

He will remain in Naples until 2025 and have an option to further the deal for another one year.

He failed to find the back of the net on his debut against Parma, but his introduction into the game in the 61st minute change the direction of the game for The Parthenopeans as it ended 2-0 in their favour.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Super Eagles are currently the second most expensive team in Africa with a valuation of €230.68million, Complete Sports quoting Transfermarkt.

Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi is currently Nigeria’s most valuable player while Victor Osimhen occupies second spot following his €70m move to Serie A giants Napoli.

Senegal are Africa’s costliest team with a value of €344.43million and are ranked 12th in the world.

The Teranga Lions have world-class players including Kalidou Koulibaly of Napoli, Sadio Mane of Liverpool and Watford’s Ismaila Sarr.
