Sadio Mane scored a crucial brace to help Liverpool humble 10-man Chelsea 2-0 at the Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon, September 20.

The Senegalese international headed home his side’s first goal just five minutes into the second half and then added a second after a schoolboy error by goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga gifted him the chance to tuck home the second.

His brace has taken his tally to 86 goals in 196 Premier League appearances and that’s two more that Cristiano Ronaldo who has 84 in the same number of matches during his stint with Manchester United.

Equally, Mane now has a better goals record in the EPL ahead Liverpool legend Fernando Torres as well as ex-Manchester goals machine Carlos Tevez and ex-Blues star Eden Hazard.

He is level on goals with City’s Raheem Sterling and French forward Olivier Giroud – ranking 40th on the Premier League’s all-time top goalscorers list.

Mane also ranks as the fourth highest-scoring African star in EPL history, and has eight more strikes than current teammate Mohamed Salah (78).

Meanwhile, Thiago Alcantara’s second half multiple strings of passes in Liverpool’s win over Chelsea has helped him to a Premier League record.

The Spanish midfielder who recently completed a switch from Bayern Munich on Friday, September 18, needed just 45 minutes to complete 75 passes two days after his signing.

It is also the most successful passes completed by any player with a maximum of 45 minutes in the Premier League since records began in the 2003-04 season.

The 29-year-old’s stats were soon shared on Twitter, and Liverpool fans were full of praises were of their new signing. “Scary to think what’s to come,” one supporter said.

And after the game, Lampard gave a damning response to the goalkeeper who allowed Jurgen Klopp’s men extend their lead in the game at Stamford Bridge. Speaking to BBC Sport, Lampard said: “(It was a) big mistake”.
