Obodo told Brila FM:

“It was really discomforting locked up in a hot car trunk for hours.

“The kidnappers were even telling me about how they lost money for placing bets on Nigeria to score in the second half.

“They didn’t hurt me or intimidate me but I can’t understand the reason for anyone to want to put me through this sort of thing over again.”

The former Udinese star was first abducted on June 9, 2012, on his way to church in Effurun, Warri.

But police tracked Obodo’s abductors to Isoko where they found the midfielder and arrested some suspects.

The 36-year-old played the larger part of his career in Italy including spells wit Perugia, Fiorentina, Udinese, Torino and Lecce.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Christian Obodo has again fallen victim for the second time at the hands of kidnappers in Warri, Delta state.

The former Super Eagles star was abducted by unknown gunmen back in 2012, on his way to church in Warri.

And the 36-year-old was taken hostage again for the second time as he was understood to be buying bananas when he was apprehended by gunmen along Refinery Road in the state capital.

Legit.ng also reported that Legit.ng also reported that Ahmed Musa has apologised on behalf of the entire Super Eagles squad following their 4-4 stunning draw with the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone in Benin.

The Super Eagles were 4-0 ahead as early as the 29th minute of the fixture, but they slipped up to allow their fellow West Africans reply all goals to return home with a point as it ended 4-4.

It was 4-1 as at the 62nd minute before the captain was replaced by Leicester City star Kelechi Iheanacho – a tactical change that eventually spelt doom for the Eagles.

Legit.ng also reported that Sierra Leonean President Julius Maada Bio has expressed delight following the Leone Stars’ epic comeback to draw level with the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the AFCON 2021.

Match Day 3 of the qualifiers saw the Leone Stars fight back from a four-goal deficit to draw with Nigeria 4-4 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin.

The Super Eagles were up 4-0 as early as the 29th minute courtesy a brace by Alex Iwobi and a goal each from Victor Osimhen and Samuel Chukwueze and Nigeria looked to whitewash their visitors.
