Leicester City on Sunday, September 27, continued their fine start to the new season as they demolished Manchester City 5-2 at Etihad Stadium.

City were looking to build on their 3-1 victory over Wolves in their season opener.

However, Leicester, who are yet to suffer defeat in the league gave them no chance as they staged a comeback to earn a huge victory.

But it was the Citizens who got things off a flying start, with Riyad Mahrez netting the opener inside four minutes of game play.

But Jamie Vardy levelled matters just before the break, with the Englishman slotting home from the spot after he won penalty following a foul on him.

Vardy handed the Foxes the lead just 10 minutes after the resumption, flicking the ball past a helpless Ederson.

The ex-England international completed his hat-trick of the night in the 57th minute, side footing another emphatic penalty into the bottom-right corner moments after he was fouled by Garcia.

James Maddison made it 4-1 in the 77th minute with a spectacular finish to put the game beyond the former champions.

A Nathan Ake header in the 84th minute was not enough to save City from an embarrassing defeat as Brendan Rodgers’ men went on to score their fifth goal through Tielemans who converted from the spot.

The match eventually finished 5-2, with this being the first time a Pep Guardiola-tutored side has shipped in five goals in a single game.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Manchester United were on Saturday, September 26, controversially awarded a penalty after the final whistle to salvage an undeserved 3-2 win over Brighton.

United looked well on course to dropping points once again after a poor start to the new campaign.

The fixture was the Red Devils’ second of the season coming on the back of their 3-1 humiliating defeat in the hands of Crystal Palace at Old Trafford.
