Jamie Vardy had the last laugh after he was mocked by Burnley fans in Leicester’s 2-1 win at the King Power Stadium.

Vardy was taunted by visiting fans in his first game since wife Rebekah hit the headlines after Colleen Rooney accused her Instagram account of leaking stories about her to the press.

Burnley supporters chanted: “Jamie Vardy, your wife is a grass” at the Leicester striker in reference to the incident.

But the England ace silenced his critics by scoring an equaliser on the stroke of half-time as Leicester came from behind to claim a 2-1 win to move up to second in the Premier League table.

After his goal, Vardy celebrated by running up to the Burnley fans and cupping his ears as he had the last laugh.

He then pointed to the sky in honour of former owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha as the Foxes paid tribute to their former owner to mark the first anniversary of his tragic death.

Vardy was this week offered the support of manager Brendan Rodgers after his wife became embroiled in a row which has been dubbed “Wagatha Christie” after Wayne Rooney’s wife claimed she set up a trap to unmask the culprit.

The Vardy family was on holiday in the international break when the row broke and the striker has since unfollowed Rooney on social media.

Foxes boss Rodgers reflected: “All we ever offer is support to all the players and their families.
