Jack Huston Joins Amazon’s Lulu Wang, Nicole Kidman Drama Series ‘Expats’ – Variety

Jack Huston has been cast in the upcoming Amazon series “Expats,” the adaptation of Janice Y.K. Lee’s novel “The Expatriates

Set against the fabric of Hong Kong, “Expats” is the story of an international community whose lives are bound together forever after a sudden family tragedy.

Huston will play David Starr, who has long lived in the shadow of his impressive wife Hilary. When the expat community is struck by a catastrophic event, his old demons resurface, forcing him to confront who he’s become. Huston joins previously announced cast member Ji-young Yoo.

“’Expats’ is an exciting reunion for me and Jack, who was the lead in my first feature ‘Posthumous,’” said series showrunner and director Lulu Wang. “Jack is such a thoughtful, empathetic actor and I’m thrilled to have this opportunity to collaborate again.”

Aside from “Posthumous,” Huston’s other feature credits include “American Hustle,” “The Irishman,” and the upcoming film “House of Gucci.” He is also known for his roles in TV shows like “Fargo,” “Boardwalk Empire,” and “Mr. Mercedes.” He previously appeared in the Amazon anthology series “The Romanoffs.”

He is repped by Untitled, UTA, and Narrative.

“Expats” will be written by Lee, Wang and Alice Bell. Wang will also serve direct all episodes in addition to serving as executive producer and showrunner, while Lee will be consulting producer and Bell will be executive producer. Nicole Kidman and Per Saari of Blossom Films will executive produce along with Theresa Park for Per Capita Productions as well as Dani Melia and Stan Wlodkowski. Amazon Studios will produce.
