Hundreds of women and youths on Thursday stormed Oyo Government Secretariat to protest the alleged killing of two persons by men of the Oyo Park Management System (PMS).

Fight broke out on Wednesday between PMS men and suspected phone sellers opposite the Baba Onilu roundabout, Iwo Road.

At least two persons died during the crisis with several injured.

One of the deceased, Ahmed, was the son of one of the property owners, which houses the shops.

Many items, including phones and buildings, were destroyed in the fracas while many phones were also reportedly looted from the attacked shops.

The intervention of the combined team of security operatives stopped the fracas from degenerating into full blown crisis.

Governor Seyi Makinde paid an assessment visit to the scene of the mayhem on Thursday.

Makinde, who looked distraught, listened as shop owners called for sack of the Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi aka Auxilliary-led PMS.

The traders expressed dissatisfaction with operations of the PMS operatives.

Makinde assured investigation has been launched into the incident, promising the government will sanitise the area behind Iwo Road where cultists congregate.

He equally promised to review the PMS and ensure everyone involved in the act was brought to book.

Despite massive security deployment around the Secretariat, a group of concerned women suspected to be traders in Iwo Road drove into the complex unannounced in convoy of private cars.

After parking their cars in different places without being noticed, the women assembled at the entrance of the Governor’s office where they expressed anger over the killings.

They were disallowed from gaining access into the office by security operatives at the gate.

But they later moved to entrance of the Oyo Assembly Complex to also express anger with PMS operatives.

No government official attended to them at the entrances.

A group of protesters carrying placards marched to the same entrance of the Governor’s office immediately the women left.

They called for justice and assurance perpetrators of the dastardly act would be brought to book.

The development forced the main entrance gate into the Secretariat shut for the second consecutive day.

Heavy security patrol was noticed in strategic places across the capital city with more heavy deployment in Iwo Road axis.
