Simone Inzaghi is glad Lazio have “one last chance” in the Europa League but is also “bitter. We didn’t deserve to leave it all until the final matchday.”
Lazio looked to be all-but-out of the Europa League but can yet qualify in two weeks’ time after they beat CFR Cluj 1-0 on Thursday, although they were made to ride their luck at times.
“We have one last chance,” Inzaghi told Sky Sport Italia.
“With a bit of luck, Celtic will compete in Romania and we’ll go for it in France.
“Tonight the lads played well from the start, although we had to score one more goal in the first half.
“In the second half, Cluj offered more physicality going forward with some players and we suffered.
“I believe a little more in our chances now, yes, but I also have a bit more of a bitter taste in my mouth.
“We didn’t deserve, for how we played in some of the games, to leave it all until the final matchday and with only a small chance [of qualification].
“Now we must try to score more goals, given how much we create. I have lots of quality at my disposal, but we need to improve and be more clinical.
“The growth is all there.”
