Having lost out on Edin Dzeko, Antonio Conte has reportedly asked Inter to get Alexis Sanchez from Manchester United on loan, but his salary is a problem.
The Nerazzurri’s first choice from the start was Dzeko, but he signed a contract extension with Roma to June 2022 last night.
Now they need to find an alternative and the Corriere della Sera and Daily Mail point towards Chile international Sanchez.
He is already an outcast at Old Trafford, but reportedly turned down a move to Roma on loan.
Inter are in the Champions League and Conte had already tried to purchase Sanchez when he was the Coach of Juventus, so it’s more likely the former Udinese and Arsenal man would accept.
The biggest issue is his salary, which is over €10m per year, so any loan deal would require Manchester United pay at least half of that wage bill.
The Mail reports that Inter are ready to offer €5m for the loan and an option to buy for another €15m, which could become an obligation if he makes a certain number of appearances.
His salary would not go above €6m, however, over a four-year deal.
