The Imo state government has reacted to the ‘Supreme court administrator’ tag on Governor Hope Uzodinma.

Many residents of the southeast state still call the Imo chief executive ‘Supreme court administrator’ after he was installed by the apex court.

Speaking to Punch newspaper on the issue in an interview published on Sunday, May 16, the Imo state commissioner for information, Declan Emelumba, said it is a non-issue.

His words:

“It is a non-issue, as far as I am concerned. What they forget is that there is no governorship election in Imo state that has not been determined by the Supreme Court.

“Those who want to delude themselves about it are free to do that if it makes them happy, but it changes nothing, absolutely nothing.”

Recall that Governor Uzodinma, last year, described people calling him a Supreme Court governor as ignorant.

The governor who made the statement during an interview on Channels TV5, argued that he emerged as governor of the state through legitimate means.

He pointed out that he was not the first person to have been favoured by a Supreme Court ruling, describing it as the height of ignorance to refer to him like that, insisting that he got justice at the apex court just like other candidates had done in the past.

Earlier, Governor Uzodimma called for those continuously labeling him as a Supreme Court governor to be sanctioned by the appropriate authorities.

Uzodimma in a petition asked the National Judicial Council, the Attorney General of the Federation and minister of justice, Abubakar Malami, and the leadership of the National Assembly to prosecute those calling him Supreme Court governor.
