An elder statesman from the southeast zone, Sam Ohuabunwa, has said the agitation for Biafra will stop if an Igbo man is elected as president.
Ohuabunwa made the statement in Abuja on Wednesday, January 20, at the inauguration of the New Nigeria Group (NNG), The Cable reported.
Sam Ohuabunwa is also nursing a presidential ambition.

Ohuabunwa who is a former chairman of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG), urged Nigerians to support power shift to the southeast region.
“Every Nigerian who wants unity must support the power shift. Igbo presidency will stop Biafra agitation which asks for equity, fairness and freedom. Even other agitation will stop.”
The politician pleaded for all citizens to unify in the interest of the country.
Ohuabunwa disclosed that he intends to contest for the office of the president of Nigeria in 2023.
He said exemplary leadership will enable Nigeria to compete favourably with other developed nations.
Meanwhile, the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) has accused Nnamdi Kanu, the wanted leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) of working against the ambitions of the southeast region to produce the next president.
Yerima Shettima the leader of the AYCF, made the accusation during an interview with The Sun newspapers.
He said Kanu’s threats to the unity of Nigeria is harming the hopes and ambition of the southeast region to govern Nigeria.
In another news, a former president, Goodluck Jonathan, has repeatedly maintained that it is too early in the day to start discussing the 2023 elections.
According to The Nation, the former president gives such a reply whenever he is asked if he has any plan to contest in the next presidential election.
The publication also reported that the growing rapport between Jonathan and some leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is causing anxiety in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
