A 10-year-old girl has vowed to many kids happy during this pandemic period as they stay indoors. Chelsea Phaire from Danbury has sent out 1,500 art kits as a way to positively affect kids’ spirits.

The kits contain things like markers, crayons, papers, coloring books, coloured pencils among others, and they are distributed to kids through shelter homes and schools, CNN reports.

Candance Phaire, her mom, said that her daughter has always begged them at home to start a charity since she was seven years old.

“She was so persistent, every couple of months she would ask, ‘Are we starting Chelsea’s Charity yet?’ When she was turning 10, she asked us again, and we decided it was time to go for it,” her mom said.

It should be noted that the charity was launched on her birthday in August 2019 as she asked her party guests to make donations towards it instead of her birthday gifts.

With that set of donations, she sent her first 40 kits to some less privileged kids. In five months, she and her mom had given out close to 1,000 kits.

One of the NGOs that have received donations from Chelsea is James Storehouse, an organsisation that helps orphans throughout their lives till college.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that a team of some Nigerian youths under the aegis MayWed Innova started the local manufacturing of 10,000 face shields after they donated 100 of the material to the Lagos state government.

In speaking about the quality of the face shields, Aminat Ibrahim, one of the team members, said that their designs meet production standards based on the Centre for Disease Control requirements.

She said that the face shields are eco-friendly, reusable, and affordable, adding that they go along with the use of other PPEs.

The team said they could produce 500 of the protective material in a day and their target markets are not just health workers but all Nigerians during this time of combating coronavirus outbreak.
