Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, on Saturday explained to the people of the state that he sacked his cabinet during the week to bring the state out of the deadlock it was in.

The governor explained this while marking this year’s Democracy Day in Zaki, the headquarters of Zaki Local Government Area of the state.

DAILY POST reports that Governor Mohammed had on 9th June 2021 sacked the Secretary to the State Government, Chief of Staff, Government House, all commissioners as well as Special Advisers, except four aides.

Speaking in Zaki on Saturday, the governor said he dissolved the State Executive Council to allow others to serve and move the state forward.

He said those sacked did not know how to play politics, adding that he had to bring in real politicians who could do the job and join hands with him to bring the state out of the deadlock.

“Those that I stopped, they don’t know how to play politics and I cannot work with those types of people. I just have to get others, real politicians that can do the job together with me and bring Bauchi out from deadlock,” Governor Mohammed said.

Speaking on the payment of workers’ salaries on the state government’s payroll, the governor disclosed that his administration had been paying salaries as and when due, adding that there was no worker being owed his salary by the government.

According to him, “the issue of salary has been addressed since. Salary is being paid before the end of the month and if there is any person with the issue of salary, such person should please voice out now.”

He submitted that those complaining of nonpayment of salary were enemies of Bauchi State’s progress, declaring that, “I pay salaries before the end of the month and I have been doing that since my assumption in office.”

Mohammed informed that as a result of the verification of workers on the state government’s payroll, especially in the health sector, over 1, 000 health workers were discovered to be collecting salaries above their grade levels.

DAILY POST reports that as part of activities to mark Democracy Day, Governor Mohammed distributed cash, business starter packs and motorcycles to 500 people in both Zaki LGA and Gamawa LGA.
