‘I heard the twins’ heartbeats for the first time – it was so emotional’, says Amy Childs

The Only Way Is Essex star Amy Childs exclusively revealed with OK! that she’s expecting twins with her boyfriend Billy Belbosq – something which came as a shock to the pair.

While Amy, 32, had come off contraception earlier this year, the reality TV star didn’t expect to conceive so quickly as she discovered she was pregnant just two months later. Making the surprise even bigger, she later found out she’s carrying twins.

Now, in her exclusive column for OK!, Amy will chart being pregnant with twins, and how she feels like she’s “going back to square one” despite having had two babies before.

In her second column below, Amy discusses the ITV Palooza, reuniting with the TOWIE cast, and how this pregnancy is tiring her out…

The ITV Palooza The Palooza was really fun but, obviously being pregnant, it’s very different isn’t it? What it is with my pregnancy is that I’ve just been so tired. So going out is a bit tough for me because by 9pm I’m ready for bed.

It was a really lovely night though. ITV always do a good event! I was really happy with my outfit and it was nice to be out. I managed to catch up with the TOWIE cast too.

People think when you’re pregnant that you can’t go out. I can still go out and enjoy myself, I just can’t drink – that’s all it is.

TOWIE cast’s reaction to my pregnancy I travelled with Saffron Lempriere to the Palooza and I saw loads of other people like Lockie and Chloe Meadows. They’ve not seen me since I announced my pregnancy, so they were all like, ‘Oh my god we can’t believe it!’ and ‘Please say the babies are going to come on TOWIE’. It was lovely seeing them.

They’re all really happy for me and can’t believe we’re having twins. That’s what they were like; they said, ‘Oh my god I can’t believe you’ll have four kids’.

When TOWIE’s on, you’re with your cast mates all the time and when it’s finished it’s strange not seeing them for a couple of weeks.

This pregnancy has made me so tired I was saying to my midwife the other day how tired I am and, obviously because you’re carrying two babies, it’s double the fatigue. This time round, I don’t know if it’s because I have two kids anyway and I’m just trying to juggle everything that I feel more tired, or if it’s because the twins are taking it out of me.

The other day at 10am I literally dropped Polly off from school and got home and had a nap, and that’s not like me. But the midwife said that when you need sleep, you need sleep and you have to rest. I’m listening to my body.

When I was pregnant with Polly and Ritchie I was always on the go, but with this pregnancy being high risk, I have to listen to my body.

I’ve been taking Floradix every day which helps with energy levels, and after starting them a couple of weeks ago I’ve noticed I’ve got a little bit more energy. It doesn’t taste the best, but I have noticed a difference.

I also take Reverse Life collagen supplements which are for hair, skin, nails and joints and that ‘s good too – and it’s pregnancy safe. When I had Ritchie, I lost a bit of hair. It looked like I’d had extensions in! So I’ve been taking this to keep my hair strong.

Hearing the twins’ heartbeats for the first time… On Monday was the first time I heard their heartbeat. Honestly, it’s just so emotional. I literally sat there and cried! My body’s going through it all again – or I’m just crying thinking about having four kids.

It’s just lovely and it was so nice hearing it. Obviously with me carrying two, they were trying to find one heartbeat, then they were trying to find the other, and I was just like, ‘I can’t believe I’m having twins’.

They’re currently pomegranate-sized and everything at the moment’s looking perfect with them.

Birth plans wise, I’m open to anything. We haven’t made any concrete plans yet. I think we’re just going to see how the twins are in my tummy – they’ll let me know about 34 to 35 weeks. Depending where they are, they might see them at 34 weeks and say I can have a natural birth, but if they’re breech for example, I’ll have to have a C-section.
