Nigerian music producer, Don Jazzy, took many Nigerians by surprise some weeks ago after he made the revelation that he was once married in the past.
The Mavin Records boss in an exclusive chat with BBC Pidgin talked about the experience, what led to the marriage coming to an end and how it remained an unknown part of his life for so long.
Don Jazzy started off by noting that he has ‘changing’ views about marriage and there are times when he asks if it’s a path that anyone should thread.

Speaking on his early marriage, the producer said he got married at a time when the music-making business was picking up and he had to start travelling around for shows and spending late hours at the studio.
According to him, these were things that also required leaving his family at home and in most cases, it was always hard to come up with explanations.
The producer, however, made it clear that his wife at the time was an understanding woman as she could see all that the music business required of him.
He explained that this was what led him to the decision of choosing the music first.
“I had to make that decision to face my music squarely and I have been loyal to this music from that time till now.”
Speaking on his marital status, the Mavin boss said a lot of people knew about the marriage including those that he dated afterwards.
He, however, noted that most of them probably didn’t feel the need to divulge the information to the public.
Also fielding a question about kids, the ace producer said he has none at the moment. He said after sharing the news of his marriage, people went to his ex-wife’s page and assumed that he’s the father of her child.
Don Jazzy said that they never had any child together. The producer added that he has no reason to hide his child if he has one.

Some weeks ago, Legit.ng reported that the producer expressed displeasure over how little Nigerians supports musicians.
According to the Mavin boss, he does not feel good seeing people rolling support for international artistes by following them on social media platforms. Don Jazzy also pleaded with people to do better by supporting local celebrities so that interesting global conversations can be held.
