The mother of Devan Bracci-Selvey has said bullies targeted her son for weeks leading up to his death. The teen was stabbed outside of his high school on Monday afternoon.Friends and family members came dressed in pink as a statement against bullying, and dozens of mourners arrived in classic muscle cars and motorcycles in a tribute to the teen, who had a passion for old cars. A pink ribbon was also tied to the back of a hearse parked in front of the Stoney Creek United Church, where the funeral took place. Devan’s obituary says he had “a loving heart for animals” and described him as a loyal friend. Mourners wore pink ribbons to the funeral as a statement against bullying. (Joana Draghici/CBC) The funeral was open to the public, but television cameras were not allowed. The family had asked those attending the funeral to wear pink to symbolize anti-bullying. A visitation was held on Friday. Bullying began on 2nd day of school, mother says Shari-Ann Bracci-Selvey says her son was the target of bullying since the second day of the school year, when tormentors allegedly stole his bike. Two teens — a 14-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man — have been charged with first-degree murder in Devan’s death. Hamilton police have been relatively quiet on the circumstances surrounding Devan’s death, but Det.-Sgt. Steve Bereziuk has said investigators believe the 14-year-old accused was the one wielding the knife.
