Joe and Jill Biden have been together for 45 years and like all marriages, it has had its ups and downs.
We will be taking a look at a love story that started in September 1975 and is still going strong. Dr Jill Biden will finally get to call herself the first lady.

1975 – The year the love began
According to a post on Twitter by Dr Jill Biden, the first words she spoke to Joe Biden were:
“How did you get this number?”

Joe met Jill after Hoe’s brother introduced them, back then Joe was a 33-year-old senator and Jill was 24, and still in college.
It had been three years since Joe lost his wife in a car crash, and luckily his two sons had survived. Jill too had divorced her husband in her junior year of college.
“I was a senior, and I had been dating guys in jeans and clogs and T-shirts, he came to the door and he had a sport coat and loafers, and I thought, ‘God, this is never going to work, not in a million years.’ He was nine years older than I am! But we went out to see A Man and a Woman at the movie theater in Philadelphia, and we really hit it off. When we came home . . . he shook my hand good night . . . I went upstairs and called my mother at 1:00 a.m. and said, ‘Mom, I finally met a gentleman.’ ”
1977 – Wedding bells
The couple married in 1977 and Joe had finally won her hand, not for want of trying, he had unsuccessfully proposed to her five times before she said yes.
Jill knew that she loved Joe and his boys and she finally agreed after Joe casually told her one day:
“I want us to get married.”
The wedding took place on June 17, 1977, in New York City, and they set off on their honeymoon with the two boys in tow.
The future
The couple would endure ups and downs, mostly with Joe’s health. He suffered two brain aneurysms and a pulmonary embolism in 1988.
In 2007 Jill received her doctorate and her loving husband was the one to hand it to her at graduation.
They had their own daughter, Ashly, together completing their family. The future looks bright for the Bidens with Jill taking on the role of FLOTUS.

In other news, attempts by US President Donald Trump to overturn the November 3 presidential election results, which he lost to Democrat Joe Biden according to the projected poll results, appear not to bear fruits as the Republican expected.
Trump, who contested Biden’s win in court, has repeatedly declared himself the legitimate winner of the election and alleged voter fraud by Democrats.
