Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen found the back of the net twice as Napoli defeated Spezia 4-1 away from home to improve their chances of a top-four finish.

The 22-year-old has now scored 10 goals for the Italian side this season, but it was a fight to finish at the Stadio Alberto Picco stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Napoli knew victory will take them above Juventus and AC Milan into second position and they made their intentions clear right from the first blast of the whistle.

Piotr Zielinski put the visitors ahead as early as the 15th minute when he pocked home the opener in spectacular fashion after he was assisted by Giovanni Di Lorenzo.

Barely eight minutes later, Piotr Zielinski turned provider when he assisted Osimhen with a brilliant through pass as the Nigerian raced to slot home his side’s second goal. It was 2-0 in the 23rd minute.

It was the Super Eagles striker yet again just before the half-hour mark when as he tucked home his side’s third goal of the afternoon. He was assisted by Lorenzo Insigne this time.

Spezia came firing from all cylinders in the second half as they began to threaten Gennaro Gattuso’s side and they pulled one back courtesy a Roberto Piccoli solo effort to make it 1-3.

Hirving Lozano wrapped things up with another goal for Napoli to end it 1-4.

With the victory, Napoli now move into second position on the Serie A standings with Atalanta, Juventus and AC Milan all following suit with 69 points. However, they all have a game in hand.

Recall that Antonio Conte has guided Inter Milan to their first Serie A title in 11 years after beating FC Crotone 2-0 last weekend.

The Nerazzurri were confirmed champions on Sunday, May 2 following Atalanta’s 1-1 draw against Sassuolo at Stadio Mapei – Citta del Tricolore.

This now means that the Juventus have missed out on winning their 10th straight Italian League title having won the last nine editions.

Meanwhile, Bioreports earlier reported that Super Eagles forwards Kelechi Iheanacho and Simeon have continued to score goals for their respective clubs abroad since the turn of this year.

Since March, both strikers have reached double figures of goals with Iheanacho netting 10 goals for Premier League club Leicester City in all competitions since March.

Simeone Nwankwo who has been impressive for Italian side Crotone this season has scored a staggering 12 goals since March this year making him the top scorer in the whole of Europe since the month.
