Aubameyang missed the Tuesday night, January 26, match just three days after he was forced to withdraw from the weekend’s FA Cup defeat to the same opponent.

It is understood the Arsenal skipper missed both clashes due to a “personal matter.”

However, his absence did not stop the Gunners from winning as they staged a dramatic comeback at St Mary’s to bag all the three points.

Stuart Armstrong handed the hosts an early lead in the third minute of the meeting before Pepe levelled matters five minutes later with his first goal from open play since October.

Bukayo Saka went on to make it 2-1 five minutes into the break, latching onto Lacazette’s wellplaced assist.

The second half of the match saw Saka reciprocate Lacazette’s favour by setting up the Frenchman for the visitors’ third goal as Mikel Arteta’s men stormed to victory.

The win was enough to lift the north London side to eighth on the Premier League standings with 30 points, five off a Champions League place.

Clearly thrilled from the win, Lacazette and Pepe wasted no time to take their celebrations to social media, with both players dedicating their goals to the missing Aubameyang.

Lacazette’s post on Instagram drew the attention of Auba who responded: “My men.”

Speaking on Auba’s absence, Mikel Arteta was coy when asked if the Gabonese will play any role in Arsenal’s upcoming fixture against Man United.

Arteta, however, divulged his star forward is “having a difficult time,” hailing the rest of the squad for supporting him.

“No [there’s no update] but I love how they support each other and how they protect each other. Auba is having a difficult time,” Metro UK quoted Arteta saying.

“We are all behind him and this win is for him,” he added.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Martin Odegaard has finally secured a loan move to Premier League giants Arsenal for the remainder of the season, Arsenal.

The Norwegian playmaker has failed to break into Zinedine Zidane’s starting XI since returning from a loan spell with Real Sociedad.

He helped the club reach the final of the Copa Del Rey and also qualify for the Europa League in last season’s campaign.
