Gunmen abduct village head, wife in Ibadan – The Nation Newspaper

The head of Araromi village, Chief Tafa Apanpa and his wife have been abducted in Bakatari, Iddo local government area of Ibadan, the Oyo state capital city by unknown gunmen.

Unconfirmed sources said the daredevil gunmen stormed the Araromi village on Tuesday night and took the Baale and his wife away.

Bakatari is one of the towns located along the Ibadan-Abeokuta road. It is a border town between Oyo and Ogun States.

The abduction according to residents of the area occurred during Tuesday night’s rainfall in Ibadan.

The source noted that the abductors have not reached the family thereby making the whereabouts of the duo unknown as of Wednesday.

A resident of the area who pleaded anonymity said: “It is true. The Baale has been kidnapped.”

Oyo State Police Command spokesperson, Adewale Osifeso, a deputy Superintendent of Police confirmed the incident.

He said efforts have been intensified to secure the release of the victims.

Osifeso said “The incident happened very late on Tuesday, 22nd of June, 2021 at Araro village.

“Efforts are in top gear to rescue both victims and as well apprehend the abductors, please.”
