AN educationist and principal of Lekki British School, Mr Ben Greyling, has called on government at all levels to adopt total education concept in the high school curriculum in Nigeria.

Greyling, who was speaking to newsmen in Lagos, stated that the total education concept entails that the high school curriculum should embrace both academic tutorials and skills acquisition side by side to prepare school leavers adequately and make them all-round complete products for the challenging world.

According to him, the essence of adopting the total education concept in our schools curriculum will create various options for our high school products in their further pursuits and engagements, while integrating themselves into the academic and economy ladder of the country.

The LBS principal drew example from the British curriculum standard of Lekki British School in Nigeria which, according to him, makes the provision of total education its core value in moulding their students to fit in to various aspects of human endeavour after graduation and guaranteeing a tradition of delivering excellent academic results year after year.

Mr. Greyling, who commended the 100 per cent A-C grades recorded in this year IGCSEs by the final year students of the Lekki British School, even in this challenging year of coronavirus when schools were closed down for months, attributed their success to quality training by their well-grounded tutors and the unique training techniques being adopted by the school under their total education concept approach.

He maintained that the strength of the LBS lies in the high quality and well-trained tutors through whom the school provides total education to their students in both skills acquisition and tutorials, making the school first amongst equals when compared with other schools that offer the British curriculum type of education in Nigeria for the IGCSEs.

Greyling stated that aside from preparing their students in high standard tutorials and skills acquisitions in various vocations, including ICT, the LBS also inculcates high moral standards in their students which on the overall makes them complete all-round products prepared for this modern age.

He further said: “We pride ourselves on our purpose-built modern facilities and an all-embracing curriculum which allows us to provide our students with world-class education that positions them to become valued members of the global community in a highly competitive world”.

The educationist stressed the importance of modern education system which is all-embracing and the need to infuse it in our general education system for us to keep turning out products that could add value to our economic development in the country.
