The Minister of Women Affairs, Pauline Tallen, has said measures are in place to overcome the hardship faced by children who fall, victims of aggression, especially in conflict zones.

In a statement by the Director of Press in the ministry, Shehu Maikai, the minister, while observing this year’s International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression yesterday in Abuja, said the Federal Government had embarked on campaigns to mitigate the privation kids face from violence and the raging COVID-19 scourge.

She said other approaches include the enforcement of the Child Rights Act and other international and regional treaties to protect the Nigerian child.

Some of the pacts, according to her, are “the Convention on the Rights of the Child (1989); the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (1990); the Optional Protocol on the Involvement of Children and Armed Conflicts (2000) and the Optional Protocol on the Sale of Children, Child Prostitution and Child Pornography (2000).”
