Ronaldinho’s innocence is beginning to unravel after a man who was directly involved in creating his fake passport has been apprehended.
The former Barcelona star and his brother Roberto Assis were arrested in Paraguay in possession of fake documents.
Wilson Arellano’s house was ransacked by the police and was arrested for alleged ties with criminals who forged the documents.
“Wilson is part of a criminal group we have been investigating for some time,” said Public Ministry prosecutor Federico Delfino.
“They provided Paraguayan documents with false content.”
It is understood the documents were said to be official but had false information and Paraguayan have taken action as reports claim the case has been processed.
Delfino added that Wilson “had active participation in the management to get the documents to businesswoman Dalia Lopez. He, along with other people, was in charge of managing the documents from his father.”
According to the prosecution’s office, Lopez is the head of a network assisting in the elaboration and use of fake identity and passport documents.
She allegedly requested false documents for Ronaldinho and his brother, who were arrested by Paraguayan authorities.
A warrant has been issued for Lopez’s arrest, but she has not yet been found by the authorities and earlier claimed she could not move around due to health issues.
