Marco Giampaolo has asserted that ‘I won’t backtrack, not even by a milimetre’ on his ideas for Milan.
Giampaolo suggested he was preparing an overhaul after Milan’s 1-0 defeat to Udinese last weekend, but the Coach made it clear the Rossoneri would not be changing their approach.
“I won’t backtrack, not even by a millimetre,” he said at a Press conference for Saturday’s Serie A match against Brescia.
“I can move a player here or there, but I won’t change our ideas. Milan must play mainly in the opposing half.
“In Udine we didn’t play our game, but I feel the team are loyal to it. You’ll see whether I change our formation. I’m pushing on with my idea of football.
“Brescia are a good team, they look a lot like my Samp. They’re an organised team and they’ve succeeded in making up for their lack of experienced with extraordinary team work.
“We’ll have to play well. Our two playmakers are Biglia and Bennacer. Biglia unfortunately got hurt and Ismael had just got here before the Udinese game.
“He only had two training sessions, so I went with Calhanoglu. I’ll see if Suso plays out wide tomorrow.
“I’m pushing on with my idea of football. The No 10 is a forward, not a midfielder. They must have quality, so it’s for that reason Suso can play there.
“Jack [Bonaventura] is an exceptional player, but he’s still not physically ready.”
The former Sampdoria boss then pleaded Italian authorities to end the summer window before the season had begun.
“The directors know what needs to be done. They watch our training sessions and make their assessments from that.
“I’m coaching my players to the best of my ability. I’m happy with them. That aside, there are other things that I don’t know about and don’t interest me.
“As it is, the transfer window isn’t good.”
