Genoa have announced former Cagliari and Leeds United man Francesco Marroccu as their new sporting director.
After a few hours of rumours and reports about movement behind the scenes at Genoa, the club took to social media to confirm the appointment of Marroccu.
The 53-year-old was director of football at Brescia under Massimo Cellino but has instead moved on to pastures new.
He previously worked in a similar capacity for clubs like Cagliari and Leeds in the EFL Championship – also with Cellino
Genoa, who are 18th in Serie A, are currently preparing for the first Derby della Lanterna of the season against Sampdoria tomorrow.
