A French woman living in Britain broke down in tears as she confronted a Tory MP over the ‘rise of fascism’ she claims is taking place in Britain due to Brexit.

Ginie Moss was one of a group of pro-EU protesters who surrounded Richard Graham, the MP for Gloucester, during a demonstration yesterday evening.

The Conservative politician tried to comfort Ms Moss saying ‘Je suis désolé’, but she snapped back: ‘Don’t speak to me in French!’

Breaking into tears, Ms Moss, who is originally from Paris, told the MP: ‘I can escape – but I don’t know what my husband is going to do without me.

‘But these people are stuck here. You will not suffer the consequences for that, but we will.’

Wearing a EU-flag beret, carrying an EU flag and wearing a T-shirt with ‘Citizen of Europe’ on it, she added: ‘I educate British kids, and now I can see the rise of fascism with proroguing Parliament, and I’m really scared.

‘I’ve been fighting this Brexit thing for three years now, I’m tired. I just want it to stop. I just want to be a good mother again.

‘I can escape, I can just give up everything and start a brand new life again, but I don’t want to do that. This is my home.’

Ms Moss, 41, is a French teacher and mother of three from the pretty Cotswolds village of Bourton-on-the-Water. She moved to the UK 21 years ago.

Ms Moss, a Parisian who came to Britain 23 years ago and teaches French, says she begrudges having to apply for ‘settled status’ because she has always paid taxes and worked

Speaking after she confronted the MP, she told Gloucestershire Live: ‘I have to apply for settled status. I refuse to apply. I will not apply for this until I really have to. I do not want to do this. They’ve got all the information on me, I pay my taxes, I work here.

‘I want to be a good mother and not have to stand here with this MP that is not even listening to me, this is what I want.

‘My family is going to be split up with the whole thing. I am in limbo here, I have been in limbo for three years.

‘If we choose to start life again, at over 40, and go back to France for my husband. Will he be in limbo there as well? Life is just so uncertain.’

Around 35 members of the Gloucester for Europe group gathered outside Mr Graham’s office yesterday, and the MP spent 20 minutes answering questions.

Last week, crowds waving EU flags amassed outside MP Alex Chalk’s office in Cheltenham

Mr Graham, who campaigned for Remain in the EU referendum, told the crowd he ‘genuinely believes’ Prime Minister Boris Johnson intends to negotiate a deal with the EU.

The MP also said the prorogation of Parliament ‘isn’t ideal’ but assures people ‘we will have our say’ regardless.

It is the latest bust-up outside an MP’s office since Boris Johnson’s controversial decision to suspend Parliament in the build-up to Brexit.

Last week, dozens of demonstrators held a rally outside Cheltenham MP Alex Chalk’s office this afternoon, chanting slogans until the politician came out and tried to calm them down.
