Kevin-Prince Boateng who had a rare opportunity to play alongside Lionel Messi when he arrived Barcelona on loan from Sassuolo in January 2019 has stated that the Argentine is so good.

The 33-year-old won the La Liga title with the Catalan club despite spending just six months with them with very little playing time.

Boateng who currently plays in the Serie B side Monza has recalled his time at the Camp Nou outfit claiming he never imagined playing for a club like Barcelona.

“The six months at Barcelona were incredible,” Boateng told DAZN as cited in GOAL. “At first, I didn’t believe it. I thought it was Espanyol who wanted me, not the real Barcelona!

“Training with Messi left me speechless. I had always said that Cristiano Ronaldo was the best in the world, but Messi is something else. He’s not normal.

“While training with him, I felt inadequate for the first time in my career. He was doing incredible things. I felt like saying, ‘I’m done, I’m going to quit playing!”

Meanwhile, Barcelona captain Messi is reportedly in negotiations with Premier League club Manchester City but latest reports have it that the Catalan club is ready to offer him ‘job for life’ to stay.

The six-time Ballon d’Or winner who is already in the final year of his contract could begin formal conversations with other clubs as from January, but Barca will not give up without a fight.

Barcelona’s presidential candidate Victor Font has disclosed his plans to keep the legend at the Camp Nou by offering him a “winning project” and a role “beyond the days he is on the pitch.”

However, Legit.ng earlier reported that England legend Wayne Rooney has named fellow countryman Paul Scholes as the best player he played with at Manchester United.

The 35-year-old starred with some superstars including the likes of Ryan Giggs, Cristiano Ronaldo, Edwin van der Sar, and several others during his reign at Old Trafford.

He revealed that he had to understudy the retired footballer while preparing to move back into midfield later in his career.
