Fonseca: 'Sevilla one of the hardest sides left'

Roma coach Paulo Fonseca says Europa League Round of 16 opponents Sevilla are “one of the hardest in the competition” after being paired together in today’s draw.

The Giallorossi advanced into the Round of 16 after overcoming Gent last night.

They were rewarded with a clash against the Spanish outfit, who have won the trophy more than any other side in the competition’s history.

Fonseca spoke to Roma TV about the prospect of facing Sevilla.

“They are one of the strongest squads in the competition, I know both them and their coach well. They are fourth in La Liga and are very strong,” Fonseca told the channel.

Roma will play the second leg at home, so does Fonseca believe this is an advantage?

“We will see, the first game is always very important, if we produce a good result it’s important to play at home.

“Right now the advantage is with Sevilla, who start at home, but if we leave with a good result, the advantage could be with us.”

The two legs will be played on March 12 and 19.
