Passengers aboard a flight at Manchester Airport have been ‘quarantined’ and forced to stay on the plane for over an hour after a medical emergency.

The Flybe flight, which arrived at the airport from Paris this morning, has been stuck on the runway after a passenger became ill with flu.

Flybe said that the flight was held as a ‘precautionary measure’, as all 107 passengers were required to give their contact details in case they caught the illness.

One passenger wrote on Twitter: ‘Still on the plane! A person is sick on the plane.

‘Health office outside the aircraft. Some kind of quarantine… Not much said by the captain or crew.’

Flybe said that the flight was held as a ‘precautionary measure’.

A spokesperson said: ‘Flybe confirms that, as a precautionary measure on arrival in Manchester and following a passenger on the above flight falling sick, it has worked closely with the Public Health England to collect the full contact details from all 107 passengers on board.

‘This would allow them to be fully traceable if, in what would be a very rare instance, they might need to be uniquely alerted by the authority at some point in the future.

‘Flybe sincerely apologises to the passengers for the delay to their travel plans upon arrival and for the inconvenience experienced however the health and welfare of its passengers and crew remain our number one priority at all times.’

One passenger told the Manchester Evening News: ‘The health authorities are holding back the passengers. Landed an hour ago.

‘One passenger was taken care of by an incident response team. Several vehicles are parked by the plane.

‘The captain informed us that during the flight the crew became aware/were made aware of one passenger’s condition and said that the health authority is in charge of the situation now.

‘He could not tell when we will be able to leave the aircraft. Crew asked us to give our contact information before we leave the plane.’
