Adamawa Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has signed an Executive Order authorising a house-to-house search for items looted in government and private storage facilities between Sunday and Monday.
The order came as a follow-up to an ultimatum by the Governor to looters to return the items or houses containing such loots would have their C of O withdrawn before possible demolition.
Fintiri signed the order just as a private farm mechanisation intervention group, North East Commodity Association (NECAS) said it lost tractors and agricultural inputs valued at nearly N3 billion.
A statement by Fintiri’s Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, explained the house-to-house search order to be cited as ‘Order No. 2 of 2020 on the Recovery of Public Property Looted in Adamawa State by Hoodlums and Thugs,’ comes into effect at 3:00pm on Wednesday 28th October 2020.
It reminded members of the public that the indefinite curfew imposed on the state is still in force and all unauthorised movement by vehicles, pedestrians and tricycles (Keke NAPEP) remain banned.
National chairman of NECAS, Alhaji Sadiq Daware has confirmed that 110 tractors were looted from the group’s warehouse.

Daware, who fielded questions from newsmen in Yola said: “On Sunday, we were informed that hoodlums invaded our warehouses, carting away our farm inputs: fertilisers, herbicides, water pumps and the rest of things meant for farmers.
“The next day, Monday, we also received information that hoodlums had invaded our mechanisation centre where we kept 110 brand new tractors for mechanisation services to Adamawa State.”
He explained the hoodlums rolled out 108 tractors, dismantled the remaining two and left with vital parts, adding the 110 tractors were Adamawa’s share of a total of 600 tractors acquired earlier for mechanisation services in the six states of the North East.
He informed many of the tractors which were fitted with complete implements cost as much as N16 million each.
But the Police Command said that 35 of the looted tractors have been recovered and moved to its headquarters.
