Federal government says it has reached out to the government of Pakistan after a video surfaced online on Monday, July 6, showing a Nigerian man being tortured by suspected drug barons.

It would be recalled that Nigerians woke up to the disturbing video which was shared by Stella Dimoko Korkus, a blogger, on her Instagram page.

“They say he was used as collateral for drugs (possibly in Pakistan)and his friend Andrew is nowhere to be found. This is a cry for help.

“Please if you recognize this man and know his friend Andrew, beg him to swing into action. He says he will be killed on July 12 if Andrew does not pay up.

“Swipe to watch the last part. I stayed awake traumatized by this. Andrew, go save your brother! Tag as many people as u can that might help,” Korkus wrote in what sparked the reaction that later called the attention of the government.

Speaking on the disturbing scenes captured in a video, Gabriel Odu, a spokesperson of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), said appropriate authorities have been contacted in Pakistan, The Cable reports.

Odu who spoke for the commission’s head, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, further revealed that the information about the location of the incident was sketchy.

He, however, said the commission is escalating to its mission in Islamabad, Pakistan for investigation.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that a Nigerian lady put up for sale by a Lebanese, Wael Jerro, on Facebook, has been rescued.

This was disclosed by the chairman of NIDCOM Abike Dabiri-Erewa via Twitter on Tuesday, April 28.

According to Dabiri-Erewa who is a former Nigerian federal lawmaker, the young lady is now safely with officials of the Nigerian mission in Beirut.

The NIDCOM chairman, however, said the lady, 31-year-old Ariowolo Olamide Temitope, who was put up for sale on Facebook has refused to return to the country.
