Nigeria’s minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has said the train ride from Lagos Ibadan which is starting soon will cost between N3,000 and N6,000.
According to a report by PM News, the minister stated that the train service would begin operations by January 2021.
Economy seat will cost N3,000, business class passengers will pay N5,000, while first class seat will cost N6,000.
The train service will start running in January 2021.

Speaking in Abuja during the inauguration of the Governing Council of the Chartered Institute of Transport Administration of Nigeria (CIOTA), on Friday, December 4, Amaechi said he received the mandate of President Muhammadu Buhari to inaugurate the rail project in January 2021.
In his words:
“Today I approved the charges on passengers from Lagos to Ibadan. We just transfer how we charged from Abuja to Kaduna.
“We charge N3,000 per Economy seat, N5,000 for Business class and N6,000 for First class, the same is applicable to Lagos to Ibadan.”

In an earlier report by Bioreports, Amaechi said the federal government’s focus on railway and seaport development is a necessity to drive the nation’s economy.
Amaechi made this known on Sunday, September 20, at the virtual 15th Annual Kaleidoscope Global Business Conference hosted by the Consulate General of Nigeria in New York.
He said:
“Many Nigerians have asked why the construction of railways? Eighty per cent of the cargoes we have in Nigeria are mostly imported because the Nigerian economy is yet to generate enough production.”
