Expert doubted Meghan would ‘commit to Harry’

A blogger, whose site documenting Meghan Markle’s wardrobe has become a global hit, has revealed she initially never expected the relationship between the Suits star and the royal to last.

Christine Ross, from Virginia, started the popular fashion blog Meghan’s Mirror, which has followed the Duchess of Sussex‘s style since she started dating Prince Harry in July 2016.

She told the Royally Obsessed podcast she had initially been against starting the blog, saying: ‘I honestly though Meghan would never commit to Harry. I kind of thought she was too good for that.’

Christine King, Founder of Meghan’s Mirror site, suggested that she thought the Duchess would ‘never commit’ to Prince Harry because of her own ambitions (pictured here with Prince Harry and baby Archie in May 2019)

The blogger went on to say that actually Meghan was now using royal life ‘to her advantage’.

Christine initially started a site following the Duchess of Cambridge’s style, but was convinced to begin a Meghan-dedicated site by a friend.

She explained that she wasn’t keen to start the site initially, as she thought the ambitious actress would never settle for royal life.

When her colleague approached her about starting the site, the blogger says she responded: ‘No way, this isn’t going to work out’.

The expert said now she believes Meghan is doing a ‘fantastic job’ at using her platform to her advantage (pictured here with Prince Harry on a royal tour of Australia)

And when pressed on the podcast for her reasoning, she explained:’ I honestly thought Meghan would never commit to Harry. I kind of thought she was too good for that.’

‘Not that she was too good for that, but I thought she would sit there and say, “I can’t do what I want to do while being a royal”.

‘With her personality I thought she would see it as a huge roadblock in her goals, but actually she is really using it to her advantage.’

She added: ‘But actually she is doing a fantastic job doing exactly that.’

Meghan has been vocal about her own beliefs since becoming a royal, including speaking at an International Women’s Day event in March this year (pictured in London ahead of the panel)

The expert later said her dedication to her beliefs was one of the reasons that people loved the royal.

Christine revealed: ‘Meghan is super american – she’s bubbly, she wants to change the world and that’s wonderful and that’s why people like her.’

Before dating Prince Harry, Meghan was an actress in television series Suits, and had had several minor film roles.

The expert went on to call Meghan ‘super bubbly’ and suggested she is loved because ‘she wants to change the world’ (the royal pictured on a visit to Cheshire in June 2018)

She was a dedicated blogger herself, and often spoke about her ambitions for her lifestyle site The Tig.

Outside of acting, she was known for her philanthropic work, and was a Global Ambassador for World Vision Canada.

Prior to becoming a royal, she also travelled to Rwanda on behalf of the charity’s Clean Water Campaign and Afghanistan to support US forces and their families.

Meghan has long been vocal about her strong feminist beliefs, having been  involved with the United Nations and an advocate for UN Women alongside the likes of Emma Watson and Angelina Jolie.

Before becoming a royal Meghan was dedicated to charitable causes, and was a World Vision Ambassador (pictured here on a trip to Rwanda in 2017)

Despite giving up acting and her blog, Meghan has remained dedicated to her own beliefs and appears to be keen to use her platform.

So far she has used her new platform to speak on the messages she is most passionate about, vocalising her support for feminism, improving mental health and women’s education.

In March Meghan joined an International Women’s Day panel to discuss women’s rights at an event hosted by the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust.

Christine went on to suggest that Meghan’s fashion choices appeared to indicate she was keen to stay ‘trendy and modern’ but trying desperately ‘to fit into’ the royal mould.

Fashion experts have previously suggested Meghan is keen to maintain her pre-royal style (pictured here in 2016 with close friend Jessica Mulroney)

Royal experts had previously suggested that she was using her fashion choices to indicate she is ‘still her own woman’.

Royal expert Hannah Betts revealed: ‘Meghan is telling us she is early in her career as a royal, that she brought a career with her and she is trying to mesh the two.’

The suggestion was revealed in a new True Royalty TV documentary, Meghan Markle: Inside the Wardrobe of a Princess.

The documentary suggested they consider her wardrobe to indicate her desire to ‘hang on to her former self’ and mesh her former career as an actress with her new life as a royal.
