By CCN Markets: There are times when a goofy news item provides far greater insight into a company, a stock, and its investors than may be apparent at first glance. Such is the case with Elon Musk, Tesla, and the Model 3 producer’s cult-like followers.
The Ultimate Elon Musk Groupie
A woman identified as Amie DD, a software developer in Texas, removed the most important pieces from her Tesla Model 3’s key card, manufactured an implant from it, and installed it inside of her arm.
We have to give this Tesla owner props for her ingenuity. In fact, if her car starts 100 percent of the time using this method, Elon Musk should hire her to fix all the other problems at Tesla.
Maybe she can stop cars from exploding by implanting a magic crystal in her brain.
Certainly, she has the manufacturing capability to make sure Tesla cars roll off the assembly line without needing electrical tape to hold cars together.
Elon Musk might be able to hire her to put rocket engines on the bottom of her feet. That way she could blast off alongside any SpaceX rocket and guide it to its proper destination. She could even make certain the side engines returned safely to Earth.
Marvel Studios might consider that some form of copyright infringement on Captain Marvel, though.
The Good News for Tesla
All joking aside, a story like this is both good news and bad news for Elon Musk and Tesla.
The good news is that it shows that the Tesla cult is alive and well. Tesla car owners love Elon Musk and love their vehicles. Despite the various problems Tesla vehicles have had over time, most owners have been extremely satisfied, and the cars generally get very high performance ratings.
A loyal and dedicated consumer base creates brand ambassadors, such as Amie DD.
The Bad News for Tesla
The bad news is that…this shows that the Tesla cult is alive and well!
There is such a thing as being too fervent a supporter of a particular product. Having a merry band of groupies provide free labor to help Tesla become a legitimate car manufacturer was bad enough. Now they’re implanting key cards in their bodies? That’s not normal.
That kind of thing can be a big turnoff to the average consumer, and even the luxury consumer that Tesla is now trying to court.
Brand loyalty is one thing. Behaving like a lunatic is another.
