COVID-19: Kenyan government suspends all school activities till January 2021

East African country, Kenya, has declared that its schools will no longer reopen this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Guardian UK, reports.

The country said its primary and secondary pupils would return to class in January 2021.

Kenyan school year runs from January to November, when it climaxes with end-of-term exams.

Education Minister, George Magoha, said in a statement on Tuesday that the curve of COVID-19 infections was expected to flatten only by December 2020.

He said as a result of this examinations for primary and secondary school have been cancelled

He said “the 2020 school calendar year will be considered lost due to COVID-19 restrictions.”

Schools in Kenya were closed on March 15 when it had only three confirmed cases of COVID-19.
