The Orange County Health Care Agency reported 1,299 confirmed cases of the coronavirus as of Monday, April 14.
Another 802 people had been tested according to the county’s latest update, bringing the total number of tests in the county to 14,977 – that works out to about 46.5 residents per 10,000.
There were 23 new cases of the virus noted, with 22 of 25 Orange County hospitals reporting in.
Los Alamitos was in the daily update’s city-by-city list for the first time today reporting five cases. Cities with population less than 25,000 are not listed unless there have been five or more cases.
No new deaths were reported. So far, 19 Orange County residents have died from the virus in a county of more than 3.2 million.
Some 39% of cases reported in the county were among those ages 45 to 64; 19 percent were among those 65 and older and 10 percent were younger than 25. More than half of those who have died were 65 or older.
The number of people reported hospitalized in Orange County by the coronavirus was 122 on Tuesday, 62 of those required treatment in intensive care units. That data also comes from 22 of 25 local hospitals reporting.
Also Monday, the use of face coverings in public was mandated in Costa Mesa; it was previously required in Irvine for workers in retail or other essential jobs where they deal with the public.
A facial covering advisory was issued by County Health Officer Dr. Nichole Quick on April 2.
