Kai Havertz has claimed that he needs more time to adapt to the pattern of play in the Premier League following his £75.8million price tag.

The German midfielder made his debut for the Blues in the 3-1 over Brighton could not justify his hefty price tag at the AMEX Stadium.

But the 21-year-old admitted that he was not at his best but insisted that he needs time to get things going in the English topflight division.

“Of course, it’s a big price tag, but I think in football today it is normal to pay these prices,” he said during a press conference on Thursday.

“For me, I will not put a lot of pressure on myself because I think I have not done the worst thing in the past for the price tag to be that high, so I’m just trying to focus on my football, to try and play my best football at Chelsea and not to put that pressure on myself.

“I think I’ve settled in very well. Of course, Chelsea is a very big club and for me it’s a big step to come to another country, another culture, another language, it’s very different than before and of course that needs some days, some weeks to adapt.

“It needs a little bit of time to adapt to the league. It’s very different to Germany but I’m looking forward to it.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Timo Werner made his Premier League debut in Chelsea’s 3-1 win over Brighton and the German striker claims he has never played against such massive defenders.

The 24-year-old joined the Blues from RB Leipzig in the summer for £47.5m and with his performance against the Seagulls, the striker is worth every spent on him.

He made several menacing runs in the first half and won a penalty that gave his side the lead, but was surprised by the big frame of defenders.
