Chelsea legend Petr Cech has named Manchester United icon Wayne Rooney as his toughest opponent during his 15 years career in the Premier League.
The 37-year-old joined the Blues from French League side Rennes in 2004 and quickly became their number one – winning the title in his first two seasons.
Both players had numerous encounters playing for their respective outfits but the former Arsenal keeper recalled their Champions League final in Moscow 12 years ago.
The Red Devils edged their rivals to the title through penalty shootouts having played a draw all through the game.

Cech, however, said he choose the England striker because due to his unpredictability whenever he was with the ball.
He told chelseafc.com when asked who his toughest opponent was: “Wayne Rooney. Every time we played against United I had to make sure I was aware every time he had the ball because he was unpredictable and very clever.
“He is a guy who can chase, who can fight, who can run, who is clever with his shot. He could score from the halfway line, he could try and chip you if you were too high. That was a challenge I enjoyed.”
Cech won four Premier Leagues, four FA Cups, three EFL trophies, one Champions League, one Europa League among others during his 11 season reign at Stamford Bridge.
He joined Arsenal in 2015 on a free transfer after losing his number one position to a younger Thibaut Courtois but he insisted he had no regrets over the decision to leave.
Cech added: “When I look back, I’m happy for the good things, I’m obviously not happy with the things that didn’t go exactly as we wanted, but they played an important part, so I wouldn’t change a thing.

“It was a great journey. I really enjoyed it. If I had the chance, I would do it all over again.”
He retired in 2019 and returned to Stamford Bridge as the club’s technical and performance advisor following his retirement last year.
Legit.ng earlier reported that Chelsea star Willian has agreed deal to join former manager Jose Mourinho at Premier League side Tottenham.
The current contract Willian has with Chelsea will be coming to an end this summer and there has been no fruitful discussion for the possibility of him extending his stay.
Willian who has been playing for Chelsea for the past seven years wants three-year deal, but the Stamford Bridge landlords are not ready to change their policy on the contract they offer players above 30 years.
