The controversies surrounding the authenticity of the O’Level certificate tendered before the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) by the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2018 gubernatorial election in the State of Osun, Senator Ademola Adeleke might be far from over.

A member of the PDP in Agbeye, Odo-Otin Local Government area of the state, Mr. Ajayi Shuaib, who swore into an affidavit to deny a suit he had earlier filed before a Federal High Court in 2019 to challenge the originality of Adeleke’s results, has been arrested by the police for alleged perjury.

OSUN DEFENDER gathered that Shuaib had earlier filed a case, registered: FHC/OS/CS/16/2019 before Justice Ayo Emmanuel of the court, claiming on oath that Adeleke allegedly forged the O’Level certificate he tendered before INEC, in a bid to prove his eligibility to contest the governorship election.

However, Shuaib later made a U-turn, as he later filed another affidavit to deny the suit, claiming that he did not swear to any affidavit, not to talk of instituting litigation.

Shuaib reportedly accused his lawyer that filed the suit, Mr. Seyi Oyagbile, of name-dropping and filing the suit without his consent, telling the court to dismiss the case.

The case was subsequently dismissed by Justice Emmanuel for lack of merit on June 7.

But Oyagbile, the lawyer that filed the suit, insisted that Shuaib did not only swear to an affidavit, but also signed all the processes for the suit to challenge the authenticity of Adeleke’s results consciously.

Oyagbile petitioned the police to investigate the matter, alleging Shuaib of committing perjury.

The police, according to sources, had arrested Shuaib last Wednesday and invited his lawyers that used the alleged fraudulent second affidavit for questioning.

Shuaib was later released after writing statement.

It was learnt that the PDP chieftain was also at the police headquaters on Thursday.

Speaking with the medium, Oyagbile said he needed to absolve himself of unprofessional conduct, hence his call on the police to investigate the matter.

He claimed that the dismissal of the suit challenging the originality of Adeleke’s O’Level results by the Federal High Court was based on fraudulent affidavit.
