Talks between Manchester City and Aston Villa have advanced rapidly, according to reports from Daily Mail and a fee of about £100 million has been agreed.

Sportsmail initially revealed exclusively in May that City were actually willing to smash the transfer record fee to land the Aston Villa captain.

Despite initially being reluctant to let him go, Villa have had to come to terms with the fact that their star man is on his way out of the club, after a prolific 2020/21 campaign.

In the Premier League last season, Grealish netted six goals and got 12 assists in a stellar campaign for the Villains, who finished the season in 11th place.

He still has four years left on his contract with Aston Villa, a club where he has spent his entire career thus far.

Manchester United and Tottenham were other clubs interested in 25-year old Grealish, but it seems it will be Man City who will land the talented attacker.

What happens to City’s interest in Harry Kane if Grealish joins them?

City were also favorites to sign Harry Kane, who made his intentions of wanting to leave Spurs clear at the end of last season.

Guardiola still wants to sign Harry Kane, who would be a massive addition to the side, especially after the departure of Sergio Aguero who joined Barcelona for free.

One major advantage City have in the Kane deal is the fact that they are willing to offer cash plus players in order to land the lethal striker.

Arsenal looking to bolster their defence

Elsewhere, Legit.ng reported that Arsenal are keen on the signature of Brighton defender Ben White for a fee of around 50 million pounds.

While Brighton have not made any public statements regarding the English centre-back, club owner Tony Bloom will not stand in the White’s way if he decides to leave the Annex Stadium, Sky Sport reports.

Thanks to his partnership with Lewis Dunk, Brighton had the joint best defence in the bottom half of the Premier League table as they finished 16th on the log, having conceded only 46 goals.

He was named in Gareth Southgate’s provisional 33-man squad or England and eventually made the final list after Liverpool ace Trent-Alexander Arnold pulled out with injury.
