CCTV: Murder suspect sprints house of pregnant Kelly-Mary Fauvrelle

Murdered mother Kelly-Mary Fauvrelle survived a cancer scare and stunned doctors by becoming pregnant with a ‘miracle’ baby boy who has now also died five days after the attack.

The mother-to-be was stabbed to death in her bedroom in Thornton Heath, south London, in the early hours of Saturday morning. Her family were all in the property at the time.

Ms Fauvrelle’s baby boy, named Riley, was delivered by paramedics at the scene and was given a 50/50 chance of survival but perished this morning at 3.10am.

The child’s father, who did not live with Ms Fauvrelle, was with his son at the time of his death and is not being treated as a suspect, Scotland Yard said.

Ms Fauvrelle was eight months pregnant and was previously told by doctors she could not have children after a cervical cancer scare.

She was a postwoman and member of the CWU and her devastated colleagues paid tribute to her today.

Kelly Mary Fauvrelle, 26, was found suffering from stab wounds at her home in Thornton Heath, south London, in the early hours of Saturday morning and died from her injuries

Police are hunting a new prime suspect in the murder of Kelly-Mary Fauvrelle, 26, after he was seen walking towards her home just before the stabbing and then sprinting from the scene

An ultrasound image uploaded to the mother’s Facebook page in February saying she had been expecting this summer – baby Riley was delivered by paramedics but died at 3.10am today

The same man is then seen running at top speed away from Kelly-Mary’s home as the Met identify their key suspect

Croydon & Sutton Amal Branch secretary Angela Whitter told the Daily Mirror:  ‘Kelly had previously survived a cervical cancer scare and had been told by doctors that she would be unable to have a baby.

‘So she was absolutely over the moon when she became pregnant and was always smiling and happy at work.’

She added: ‘People were always complementing her on her growing ‘bump’ and she was so looking forward to her baby’s arrival.

‘Everyone at Croydon Delivery Office is totally devastated by this.’

It comes as police acknowledged speculation Ms Fauvrelle had known her attacker but said ‘we simply are not in a position to say and we must retain an open mind.’

Detective Chief Inspector Mick Norman said her family was alerted to the ‘vicious’ attack by her screams at around 3.30am.

‘It was a savage and sustained attack on a clearly and obviously heavily pregnant woman, which has had catastrophic results,’ he said.

‘She has suffered from multiple stab wounds. When the family got into her room, she was clearly critically injured.’

Mr Norman said Ms Fauvrelle’s whole family – her mother, two brothers, sister and sister’s baby son – were all in the house but did see the attacker.

‘The attack took place in Kelly’s bedroom on the ground floor and at the rear of the premises,’ he said.

‘In terms of access there is a communal passageway and potentially the obvious access point would be through the kitchen.

‘There is no sign of a forced entry but that does not mean, through accident, the premises were insecure.’

Kelly Mary was eight months pregnant at the time and her baby, which a relative said is a boy, was delivered and taken to hospital

He added the murder weapon, which could be a kitchen knife, is yet to be found.

The force also released CCTV of the prime suspect in her murder.

The hooded figure was filmed sprinting from her home seconds after the 26-year-old was stabbed to death in Thornton Heath at 3.30am on Saturday.

Minutes before the murder the same suspect can also be seen calmly strolling towards her property in south London as the Met urged the public to help detectives find him.The Met are still considering whether his death should also be treated as murder.

Detective Chief Inspector Mick Norman is leading the investigation and said today: ‘This morning, we heard the sad news that Kelly’s baby son, Riley, has died in hospital. Our thoughts remain with their family.

‘This tragic development makes it even more important that anyone with information comes forward as a matter of urgency. We need to identify the man shown in the footage’.

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of Miss Fauvrelle’s murder – but were released  – and now Met detectives appear to have identified their prime suspect.

In new CCTV released by Scotland Yard today the man they want to trace is seen walking towards Kelly’s address at around 3.15am on Saturday morning – just before the murder.

Around 10 minutes later, the same suspect can be seen running back along Raymead Avenue, away from Kelly’s address, toward Colliers Water Lane in Thornton Heath.

The death of Riley this morning takes the total number of murders being investigated in London by Scotland Yard so far this year to 67.

Five people were killed in just 25 hours over the weekend – the other three being in Lambeth and Newham on Saturday, and Southwark on Sunday.

Some 14 people were killed in June in the capital.

The force also released CCTV of the prime suspect in her murder. Minutes before the murder the same suspect can also be seen calmly strolling towards her property in south London

DCI Norman, of the Met’s Homicide and Major Crime Command is leading the investigation, and said today: ‘The release of this footage is the next step in what has been a fast-paced, and extremely challenging investigation.

‘We need to identify the man shown in the footage urgently, even if only to eliminate him from our enquiries. I need to hear from anyone who knows who he is. If this is you, it is imperative that you contact my team immediately.

DCI Norman continues to appeal for any witnesses, CCTV or footage or anyone with any information at all that could assist, to come forward.

He said: ‘A dedicated team of detectives are working day and night on this investigation.

‘We have assured Kelly’s family – and I want to assure local residents and the wider public too – that we are doing absolutely everything in our power to find the person responsible.

‘I am aware that there is some speculation about whether Kelly’s attacker was known to her. At this stage we simply are not in a position to say and we must retain an open mind.

‘One of the key aims of my investigation is to build a complete picture of Kelly’s life and the people with whom she was in contact, but I also need to consider other possible scenarios.

‘Members of the public may have useful information, and I am today reiterating my appeal for anyone who may know anything that will assist the investigation to make contact as soon as possible’

The address in Thornton Heath on Saturday evening after the mother was killed in the early hours of the morning

Tributes were paid to the postal worker after news of her death emerged.

A relative, who did not want to be named, said: ‘News has travelled all over the world and we have family coming from all over the world, like France.

‘We just want to grieve and be left in peace.’

Miss Fauvrelle’s brother said ‘words can’t describe’ the pain of their family.

He said: ‘You couldn’t have been a better sister and I thank you for always being there for me, helping whenever I needed it.

‘A beautiful person whose life has been taken away from her.

‘I’ll stay strong, so you’ll always be in my thoughts. I love you more than you can possibly imagine.’

Miss Fauvrelle’s friends also paid tribute to her.

Opaline Meunier posted on Facebook: ‘Our sweetest, nicest Kellymary Fauvrelle was taken away from this world in the most brutal way.

‘I will always remember her as a lovely, so funny, joyful, sparkling and full of life friend. We shared so dear memories in English class.’

Aaleeah Knowles praised Miss Fauvrelle’s ‘business mind’ and protective nature.

Miss Fauvrelle brother said ‘a beautiful person’s life has been taken away from her’

She posted on Facebook: ‘I’m devastated to hear what happened to you. You didn’t deserve this. You’ve touched my soul and my emotions are all over the place for you.

‘I’ll never forget you because how could I. You were amazingly intelligent and bright and I’m just devastated, never forgotten.’

Meanwhile colleagues of Miss Fauvrelle, who worked at Croydon Delivery Office, said they are ‘in total shock’.

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of Miss Fauvrelle’s murder. One, aged 37, was released under investigation on Sunday, and a second, aged 29, was yesterday released until early August.

Police say they are keeping an open mind as to the motive.

Mr Ward called on the Government and London Mayor Sadiq Khan to reverse police cuts in the wake of the death. So far, 68 people have been murdered in the capital this year.

He said: ‘Yet another loss of innocent life is utterly sickening. It is clear the gang culture and environment across the UK but particularly in London has reached a level where it just cannot go on.

‘The CWU calls for an immediate reversal of police cuts in London and across the UK as an absolute priority and we will link up with other organisations to pressure the Government and Mayor to act now.

‘The streets are not safe any more and this is not the world we should hand over to our children and grandchildren. Enough is enough.’

Britain’s blood-drenched heatwave weekend: Police launch SIX murder probes in 48 hours of violence as raging heat soared to 93F

Six people were killed around Britain in the last days in a weekend of violence.

Four people died in London, including a pregnant 26-year-old woman, a 27-year-old man was attacked and killed in Maldon, Essex, and a murder investigation was launched after the death of a 47-year-old in Llanelli, south Wales.

The four killings in London took the total number of homicides in the capital this year to 67.

The attacks unfolded on one of the hottest weekends of the year, with temperatures hitting 34C (93F) in west London.

Six people were killed in violent attacks around the country over the weekend

The first murder investigation of the weekend was launched after grandfather Andre Yan Irwin was found fatally wounded on a street in Llanelli in the early hours of Saturday morning.

His family, who are being supported by specialist officers, later paid tribute to the ‘brilliant’ family man.

They said: ‘We are devastated at the sudden and tragic loss of a brilliant father, son, grandfather and fiancé.

‘Andre was a great role model for his grandchildren, and will be very sadly missed.’

Later on Saturday, paramedics rushed to an address in Thornton Heath but were unable to save the heavily pregnant mother Kelly-Mary Fauvrelle who had been stabbed at her home.

A 37-year-old man arrested on Saturday was released ‘under investigation’ after being questioned by detectives. A second man, aged 29, arrested later that day remains in custody.

Further violence flared in south London later when a man in his 50s died following a fight in Lambeth on Saturday afternoon.

Police in south Wales named Andre Yan Irwin (right)  as another of the six victims of this weekend’s violence

Police were called to Coldharbour Lane following reports of a fight where they found the injured 54-year-old.

The London Ambulance Service took the man to hospital but he was pronounced dead just after 10pm.

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in custody. Police have appealed for anyone with mobile phone footage to get in touch.

That evening, in the market down of Maldon, Essex, a 27-year-old man was killed after a brutal attack outside an Iceland supermarket.

Another victim, 26, suffered a broken jaw in the assault which unfolded in the sleepy market town of Maldon, Essex, on Saturday night.

Local police say violence flared at around 9pm when three men attacked the two victims.

Three men have been arrested on suspicion of murder and they remain in custody for questioning.

The violence continued later on Saturday night, when a man believed to be in his late 20s was stabbed to death in east London.

Police were called to the junction of Ron Leighton Way and Wakefield Street, Newham, at 11.07pm on Saturday where they found the man suffering from stab wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The final of the six weekends killings happened in London yesterday when an 18-year-old died after staggering into hospital with stab wounds.

Police had been called to reports of a fight in Southwark, south east London, just before 5am yesterday.

They arrested three men, two aged 22 and an 18-year-old, but could not find any trace of the victim until he turned up at hospital.

Despite efforts to save his life he was pronounced dead at 7.30am – just hours after the fight took place.

Det Chief Insp Neil John, of the Met’s Homicide and Major Crime Command, said: ‘A number of arrests have been made but we urge anyone who witnessed the incident to contact us immediately to tell us what they know.

‘An 18-year-old has lost his life in violent circumstances and we are working hard to establish exactly what happened.’
